Sugden Audio has announced the new A21 SE Special Edition integrated amplifier, pitched between the A21a and the Masterclass Integrated in terms of price, with styling cues taken from Sugden’s handsome Bijou range. An impressive specification shows a number of significant improvements over the popular A21a – although fans of the older design will be relieved to hear that, thanks to continuing demand, there are no plans to replace it.
The A21 SE will produce more than twice the power output of the A21a with 4 ohm loads. The line stage will be a new wide-bandwidth dual-mono design with separate current-shunt power supplies. All inputs will be relay-switched to minimise signal paths, silver wiring will be used in all the most critical areas, and there’ll be a new remote volume control too.
Larger than the A21a thanks to its extra heatsink capacity and weighing around a third more, the A21 SE will have completely redesigned casework including a 10mm-thick aluminium front plate, plus upgraded gold hardware and titanium front panel controls.
