In "The Expendables 3," Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

Sylvester Stallone gives an update on The Expendables 3

Sylvester Stallone took to Twitter today to give an update on the status of The Expendables 3.


He said that he's writing the third installment right now and that you can expect "mountains of surprises." He added that he thinks "EX3 needs NEW blood and more humor.... The films were always meant to be more on the humorous side with moments of drama.


Jackie Chan was quoted last December as saying that Stallone had asked him to be in the third film and he "agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes."


Stallone, in his latest tweets, confirmed that he's talking to Chan, but that Steven Seagal won't be part of the film. "No S. Seagal, sorry, but maybe we get lucky with J. Chan!"


Then he again mentioned that he is looking to cast "some young bloods!!! By young I mean 22 to 27. Not big bruisers but tech wizard, super brains and a young woman who is not a sex symbol but funny, tough, REAL."

Patrick Hughes to direct The Expendables 3

Sylvester Stallone has just revealed (via his Twitter account) that Australian director Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) is set to direct The Expendables 3.


"EX3 Needs freshness, class, and much badass," Stallone writes "....Found it... Blood Sweat and Fears, coming soon... My best PURE ACTION FILM - The last RAMBO - I want this one too top it and I believe it will with NEW BLOOD."

Sylvester Stallone offers updates on The Expendables 3

As he has done previously, Sylvester Stallone has revealed some more information about the upcoming The Expendables 3 via his Twitter account. Stallone confirmed that Mickey Rourke will return for the film and that he's spoken with actor Wesley Snipes about joining and he reportedly "Can not WAIT to fight to the top again!" In addition, Stallone further teased that Jackie Chan would be joining the cast in a tweet saying "What's the plan? Ask Jackie Chan...."


Stallone also said they're looking at last year's action film The Raid: Redemption - he says he believes The Expendables 3 "can do better." Stallone also teased that he's thinking of "raiding The Raid" - could some of those actors jump to the film?

Chan, Snipes, Cage and Jovovich in negotiations for The Expendables 3!

Deadline is reporting that Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer mentioned this morning that actors Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich are all in "advanced negotiations" to appear in the upcoming The Expendables 3.


Chan, Snipes and Cage have been on Sylvester Stallone's radar for the film for some time as rumors of their casting have been floating around for a few months. Stallone has also spoken previously about wanting a "Young Sigourney Weaver" for the film, could that be the role Jovovich is up for? Check back here for confirmation on the casting soon.

Arnold Schwarzenegger to return for The Expendables 3

Following the news that Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning as the Terminator in Terminator 5, which he says will start filming in January, comes word that the actor will return for The Expendables 3 as well. TheArnoldFans is attending a summit with Schwarzenegger and says:


"Not only did Arnold confirm to TheArnoldFans that he will be in Expendables 3, he added that he's going to start filming in August in Los Angeles!"

Kellan Lutz up for Expendables 3 role

With a release date set for August 15, 2014, the cast of The Expendables 3 is beginning to solidify. Today, The Wrap reports that The Twilight Saga star Kellan Lutz is in talks to join Sylvester Stallone's Barney Ross and his team for the action ensemble sequel.


In addition to Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jason Statham have been confirmed for the project, which is slated to begin shooting next month in Los Angeles. Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich are also rumored to be in advanced negotiations to join the cast as well.

Lutz, who recently starred in Aram Rappaport's Syrup, can next be seen as the title character in Renny Harlin's Hercules 3D.

Newcomer Glen Powell nabs major Expendables 3 role

Although his credits include a minor appearance in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises (he played "Trader #1"), Glen Powell is a relatively newcomer to leading roles in Hollywood. That's all about to change, however, as The Hollywood Reporter today brings word that Powell has scored a major part in Lionsgate's upcoming The Expendables 3. He'll play a military hacker and drone expert in the ensemble sequel.

Harrison Ford enlisting for The Expendables 3

It appears there's a surprise addition to the cast of Lionsgate's The Expendables 3. Sylvester Stallone took to Twitter moments ago to reveal that Harrison Ford has joined the ensemble actioner. He also reports that Bruce Willis will not be reprising his role as Mr. Church.


"WILLIS OUT," an obviously excited Stallone writes, "HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!"

After the announcement that Harrison Ford has signed on for The Expendables 3 comes the reveal from Entertainment Weekly that Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas will also appear in the film. While there was no mention of Antonio Banderas' role, Gibson is said to play the main antagonist for the film, confirming earlier rumors.

Kelsey Grammer enlists for The Expendables 3

Kelsey Grammer is the latest name to join the cast of Lionsgate's currently-shooting The Expendables 3, Deadline reports. He'll play an ex-mercenary by the name of Bonaparte, a role that the outlet claims was initially offered to Nicolas Cage.

Grammer, already set for a 2014 blockbuster sequel with a role in Transformers: Age of Extinction.
