Η Paramount ανακοίνωσε πως τον προσεχή Νοέμβριο θα βγαλει σε HDDVD τον πρωτο κύκλο της σειρας Star Trek The Original Series

Η τηλεοπτικη σειρα που γνωρίσαμε στη χωρα μας την δεκαετια του ογδόντα, είναι κινηματογραφημένη όπως και πολλές σειρές εκείνης της εποχης.
Ετσι δίνετε στην Paramount η ευκαιρία να κανει remaster αυτές τις κόπιες ώστε να επιτευχθεί το καλύτερο δυνατο οπτικο αποτέλεσμα.
Στα περιεχόμενα των δίσκων θα υπάρχει νεα μπαντα ηχου ( σε σχεση με το dvd) Dolby TrueHD , συνεντευξεις σε Picture in Picture video ενώ κάποια από τα εφε της σειρας θα βελτιωθούν ψηφιακά .

Προς το παρόν καμία αναφορά δεν εχει γινει οσον αφορα την κυκλοφορια Star Trek T.O.S. σε ΒluRay

Αν δεν το βγάλουν και σε blu-ray μου φαίνεται ότι μπορεί να αλλάξει ισορροπίες...Έχει τους πιο τρελαμένους φίλους αυτή η σειρά..( και τους πιο πολλούς..)

Star Trek HD DVD to cost more than player!

Paramount Home Entertainment recently announced that the first season of the cult sci-fi show Star Trek: The Original Series will be coming to HD DVD in America this November. The only downside? The ten-disc HD DVD/DVD combo set will set customers back a massive $217.99!

What do you get for your money? Well, we'll let Paramount's press release explain...

Meticulously remastered from the original camera negative specifically for this high-definition release, each classic episode is presented in pristine condition with state-of-the-art digital visual effects. 1960s special effects have been replaced with 21st century computer-generated imagery to give new depth and atmosphere to various elements including the main title sequence, the galaxy shots frequently seen from the Enterprise's bridge, the battle scenes, planets and alien ships, some of the matte paintings used as backdrops for new worlds, as well as the Enterprise and other Starships, which have been replaced with state-of-the-art CGI-created ships. The new computer-generated Enterprise is based on the exact measurements of the original model, which now rests in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

The refurbished episodes also feature higher quality sound for the famous opening theme. The original score by Emmy Award-winning composer Alexander Courage has been re-recorded in state-of-the-art digital stereo audio with an orchestra and a female singer belting out the famous vocals. A digitally remastered version of William Shatner's classic original recording of the 38-word "Space, the final frontier..." monologue continues to open each episode.

In addition, the extraordinary set features true HD audio and exclusive HD DVD interactive features produced by New Wave Entertainment. Interactive menus and a "Starfleet Access" interface will allow viewers to activate icons which provide such features as Picture in Picture video commentaries and an interactive tour of the Starship Enterprise. Both the standard definition and high definition presentations also include rare on-set home movie footage, an inside perspective on what it took to transport Trek into the 21st century and much more. Finally the set comes housed in a futuristic clear case.

Star Trek: The Original Series is a 10-disc collection presented in the original aspect ratio (1.33:1) screen. The standard definition presentation includes Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround, Spanish Mono and French Mono as well as English, Spanish and French subtitles. The HD DVD presentation features English Dolby True HD and Spanish Mono with English and Spanish subtitles.

Bonus features on the HD DVD side are as follows:
Starfleet Access - On-screen graphical interface allows viewers to access Picture in Picture video commentaries, comparisons of re-mastered vs. original effects, encyclopedic information (science, life forms, technology), episode trivia and more on the following episodes:

Ειμαι κι εγω μεγαλος φαν...
Αναρωτιεμαι ομως....
Εκτος απο τους τεσσερεις κυκλους του Enterprise που εχουν γυριστει σε μακροστενο καδρο και σιγουρα μπορει να αξιοποιηθουν πιο καλα σε ενα home cinema, τα προηγουμενα που ειναι σε τετραγωνο καδρο και εχουν γυριστει με πιο τηλεοπτικες ριζες, τι να βελτιωσουν ωστε να πρεπει να γραφτει σε HDDVD και BR ?
Θελω να πω, οσο απιθανη σειρα και να ειναι, το καδρο μενει τετραγωνο, ετσι ?
Η πληροφορια της εικονας, ποση υπαρχει στο πρωτοτυπο με τις τηλεοπτικες καμερες? Με τον ηχο οτι και να κανουν δεν με απασχολει...
Οση λεπτομερεια και να προσθεσουν παντως στην εικονα, εμενα με χαλα το τετραγωνο καδρο, οταν ειναι κατι που θα δωσω λεφτα για να το εχω στη συλλογη μου ......

Τα πρώτα επεισόδια έχουν γυριστεί σε 4:3 και με μονοφωνικό ήχο. Δεν πιστεύω ότι υπάρχει κανένας λόγος να το αγοράσεις σε HD-DVD, πέρα από τους συναισθηματικούς και για να είναι η σειρά συμπληρωμένη. Αν είσαι συλλέκτης, την αγοράζεις.

Η πληροφορια της εικονας, ποση υπαρχει στο πρωτοτυπο με τις τηλεοπτικες καμερες?

Τα επεισόδια της original σιερας δεν ηταν γραμμένα σε video αλλα σε κινηματογραφικό film.
Συνεπώς και εφοσον εχουν σκοπο να κάνουν remaster αυτές τις κόπιες, το πιθανότερο είναι το αποτέλεσμα να είναι κατά πολύ ανώτερο από αυτό του dvd.

Πραγματι, στα dvd του original series υπαρχουν καποια παρασιτα που θυμιζουν κινηματογραφικο φιλμ. Ομως και το φιλμ ηταν με τετραγωνο καρε? Ετσι? Οπως το super 8 ? Αλλιως αν ηταν σε μακροστενο λογικα θα το εβαζαν και στο dvd ετσι....

Toshiba sets HD DVD to stun

Toshiba plans on beaming a generation of Star Trek fans up to its HD disc format this autumn, when the legendary sci-fi series makes its high definition debut exclusively on HD DVD.

The Original Series box set, which features a high definition make-over of the original Trek show, complete with new special FX and extras, will only be available in an HD DVD/DVD combo format.

As part of a special promotion, US buyers who snap up the Trek Season One set along with a third generation Toshiba HD DVD player will get a limited-edition phaser-style remote control.

Δεν ξερω για τις ισορροπίες που λες αλλά εγω ειμαι μέσα στους τρελαμένους

Και εγώ!!! STAR TREK LIVES!!!!!
Εάν έχουν και υπότιτλους Ελληνικούς (που δεν θα έχουν!) τότε θα τρελαθούμε πιό πολύ!!!
Αγόρασα τον CRT μου το 1998 μόνο για το STAR TREK!!!!!!
