Marvel's Avengers Movie Might Be CGI or 3D?!

When director zak penn asked about if he would ever consider doing animated comic book movies (we think he meant like the recently released Justice League: The New Frontier, although Zak takes it differently), he replied with the following:

"Absolutely. It's not only something I've considered doing, but there's been the discussion about The Avengers doing some sort of next level… Whatever the next iteration of computer animation is after this, the next step after Beowulf, is something we would definitely conisder for that."

"And I actually think it's worth considering for a lot of movies, I think it's amazing. It has a tremendous amount of potential. And I love animated movies, and I've produced animated movies, and I wrote the original story for Antz. It would definitely interest me."

Καρκίνο στο πάγκρεας έχει ο Πάτρικ Σουέιζι, δήλωσε η μάνατζερ του γνωστού Αμερικανού ηθοποιού, επιβεβαιώνοντας σχετικό δημοσίευμα στον επίσημο δικτυακό τόπο της New York Post. Παράλληλα, διέψευσε ως «απολύτως αναληθείς» τις φήμες ότι στον 55χρονο σταρ απομένουν μόλις πέντε εβδομάδες ζωής.

Το ίδιο έπραξε και ο γιατρός του Σούειζι, που είναι γνωστός στο ευρύ κοινό από τις εμφανίσεις του στον κινηματογράφο (Dirty Dancing και Ghost οι μεγαλύτερες επιτυχίες του) και την τηλεόραση (πρωταγωνίστησε στη σειρά Βόρειοι και Νότιοι, που προβαλλόταν επί σειρά ετών και στην ελληνική τηλεόραση).

Η διάγνωση της ασθένειας του 55χρονου ηθοποιού έγινε πριν από περίπου ένα μήνα και ο γιατρός του, Τζορτζ Φίσερ, στην ίδια ανακοίνωση με την οποία διέψευσε τις φήμες για το υπόλοιπο ζωής του ασθενή, διαβεβαίωσε ότι, επί του παρόντος, ο οργανισμός του Αμερικανού σταρ «ανταποκρίνεται καλά» στη θεραπεία.

Από την πλευρά της η Ανέτ Γουλφ, μάνατζερ του Σουέιζι, προσέθεσε ότι η ασθένεια δεν έχει επηρεάσει την καθημερινότητα του πελάτη της, ο οποίος συνεχίζει να δουλεύει κανονικά και να ετοιμάζει τα επόμενα βήματά του στο χώρο του θεάματος.

Όπως αφήνεται να εννοηθεί, ο διάσημος ηθοποιός πρόκειται να εμφανιστεί σε δύο ταινίες, που θα κάνουν πρεμιέρα στη μεγάλη οθόνη εντός του 2008.

Κάστ μεγατόνων στη νέα ταινία των Κοέν


Τα οσκαρικά αδέλφια Ιθαν και Τζόελ Κοέν δεν φαίνεται να επαναπαύονται μετά το φετινό του θρίαμβο.

Η νέα τους δημιουργία είναι ήδη στα σκαριά και το μεγατόνων κάστ τους φωνάζει από μακριά ότι άλλη μια επιτυχία βρίσκεται στο εκκολαπτήριο.

Πρόκειται για μία μαύρη κωμωδία με τίτλο «Burn After Reading», όπου ο σκληρός δίσκος με τα απομνημονεύματα ενός πρώην πράκτορα της CIA πέφτει κατά λάθος σε δύο πολύ επικίνδυνους και αδίστακτους κακοποιούς.

Τους πρωταγωνιστικούς ρόλους θα κρατήσουν οι Τζωρτζ Κλούνεϊ, Μπραντ Πιτ, Τζον Μάλκοβιτς και Τίλντα Σουίντον (σίγουρα τη θυμάστε από το Μάικλ Κλέιτον, ερμηνεία για την οποία απέσπασε το οσκαρ Β΄ ερμηνείας).

Καταλαβαίνετε πως ... όταν η σκηνοθετική ματιά των Κοέν ενώνεται με τέτοιους πρωταγωνιστές κάθε σχόλιο είναι περιττό.

Εξόδιος ημερομηνία έχει οριστεί από την Focus Features η 12η Σεπτεμβρίου.

Ο Nicolas Cage θα συμπρωταγωνιστήσει με την Rose Byrne στο θρίλερ επιστημονικής φαντασίας "Knowing".

Τα γυρίσματα της ταινίας έχουν προγραμματιστεί να ξεκινήσουν αυτό το μήνα στην Αυστραλία υπό τις σκηνοθετικές οδηγίες του Alex Proyas.

Jill Culton Helming Transylvania


Open Season helmer Jill Culton will direct Sony Pictures Animation's Hotel Transylvania.

The story centers on Simon Van Helsing, the youngest in a long line of monster hunters. The last thing Van Helsing wants to do is fall in love with Dracula's Daughter, Mavis.

Upon discovering that they are natural enemies, the doomed couple attempts to bring peace between monsters and humans. In the end, each family will have some new blood.

Tarantino's HellRide Coming in August!

From the studio comes word that Hell Ride will be in theatres this August for fans to drool and get horribly ecited over.

“Hell Ride” is a raucous throwback to the days of the Sergio Leone spaghetti western, with a heaping helping of testosterone-fueled chopper action thrown into the mix.

Writer/director Larry Bishop takes on a third role as Pistolero, head honcho of the Victors, a group of badass bikers who are out to avenge the murder of one of their members at the hands of the 666ers, a rival gang whose actions live up to their hellish moniker.

Along with his cohorts, the Gent (deviously portrayed by Michael Madsen) and the mysterious Comanche (Eric Balfour), Pistolero aims to take down the Deuce and Billy Wings, menacing leaders of the 666ers, but a mutiny looms on the horizon when his commitment to profit is questioned by a few of his fellow Victors.

An even larger story unravels when previously unknown information about Comanche resurrects ghosts from Pistolero’s past.

Bruckheimer's Prince of Persia Movie Shooting in Morocco

An update from Variety today mentions that director Mike Newell has scouted out Morocco as the location to primarily shoot the upcoming video game adaptation Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. That's it, yep, that's the entire update regarding Prince of Persia. Although I'm guessing a cast has already been set, or at least is very close to being finalized, nothing else besides the director has still been announced. Due out next June, Prince of Persia is set to start filming in Morocco this June, as long as the SAG doesn't strike.

The film is being produced by powerhouse Disney producer Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Donnie Brasco, Mona Lisa Smile and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire helmer Mike Newell, and written by both Jeffrey Nachmanoff (The Day After Tomorrow) and one of the game's creators, Jordan Mechner. In addition to shooting in Morocco, the film will be using the Pinewood Shepperton studios in England. Considering the line-up involved, we can expect a big budget and great production values set within a warmer version of The Day After Tomorrow combined with the action and pacing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Sound any good to you? I like everything but that The Day After Tomorrow reference.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is currently set to arrive in theaters next summer on June 19th, 2009.

Hulk 2 Trailer Arrives March 12th

The first teaser trailer for hotly anticipated summer superhero epic "THE INCREDIBLE HULK" will have its exclusive broadcast debut in a simultaneous "roadblock" on seven networks on Wednesday, March 12.

This first opportunity to see material from the motion picture will be aired at approximately 9:56 p.m. EDT/6:56 p.m. PDT on MTV, MTVU, MTV2, VH1, Spike TV, Nick at Nite and CMT.

Following the on-air premiere, the trailer will be immediately posted on MTV.com for an exclusive period. The trailer will begin showing in theaters across the country on Friday, March 14, with prints of Rogue Pictures' DOOMSDAY.

"THE INCREDIBLE HULK" hits theaters worldwide on June 13,

Ready for a Ton of 3D Animated Movies?

At the ShoWest exhibitors convention in Las Vegas that studios are planning to release many of their upcoming animated films in 3D.

It was revealed that 20th Century Fox's Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Disney's Bolt and Disney/Pixar's Up will all be 3D releases.

In fact, Disney will have five 3D movies in 2009.

If that's not enough, DreamWorks Animation's upcoming movies will all be coming in 3D from now on.

First Look: DreamWorks Monsters vs Aliens

After DreamWorks Animation releases both Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar: The Crate Escape later this year, they'll be brining Monsters vs. Aliens to theaters in digital 3D. Based on the horror comic book "Rex Havoc", the animated film is a throwback to "those B-movie glory days of the '50s when Martians invaded our backyards and rubber monsters stalked the Earth." The film turns those classic movies into an irreverent modern day action comedy about a monster hunter called upon to battle aliens who disrupt cable TV service. USA Today has released our first look at the main characters in Monsters vs. Aliens.

DreamWorks' Jeffrey Katzenberg spoke to USA Today about the 2009 animated flick and its 3D nature, saying, "this isn't our father's 3-D." Although we haven't advanced enough to the point where the goofy glasses are unnecessary, Katzenberg says that "the digital projection puts a perfect image on the screen. There is no ghosting, no eye strain or nausea."

The film hits theaters on March 27th, 2009.

Wolfgang Petersen Confirmed for Uprising

A project first revealed way back in September on the writers pre-strike memo, Variety has now confirmed that Wolfgang Petersen is indeed directing the sci-fi thriller Uprising for Columbia Pictures.

Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher (Gladiator) are producing through their Sony-based Red Wagon shingle.

The story revolves around the resistance efforts of some citizens after Earth has been occupied by a powerful alien race.

Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond) is writing the screenplay..

Paramount, Raimi Open Monster Zoo

Paramount Pictures has acquired feature rights to "Monster Zoo," a graphic novel by Douglas TenNapel that will be published in the spring by Image, reports Variety.

Buckaroo Entertainment's Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man" films) and Josh Donen will produce with Ellen Goldsmith Vein. Raimi, who is developing the Universal thriller Drag Me to Hell, has committed only to produce at this point.

TenNapel, whose past graphic creations include "Earthworm Jim" and "Cat Scratch," tells the story of a young boy who discovers his local zoo contains critters much more frightening than the ordinary collection.

Official Punisher: War Zone Site Launched


Lionsgate has launched the official website for Punisher: War Zone, opening in theaters on September 12. Directed by Lexi Alexander (Green Street Hooligans), the action thriller stars Ray Stevenson, Dominic West, Doug Hutchinson, Colin Salmon, Wayne Knight, Dash Mihok and Julie Benz.

In the film, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle sets his sights on overeager mob boss Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the "Punisher Task Force" hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished.

Filming Wraps on Sci-Fi Thriller Moon

Commerical helmer Duncan Jones (aka Zowie Bowie) has finished principal photography on the 2009 sci-fi thriller Moon. There's little to glean from the plot synopsis other than it concerns a space traveler stranded on a moon base, "lonely but not alone", Sam Rockwell stars in the lead role.

The film is the first produced screenplay for writer Nathan Parker and Jones' feature debut. Independent is handling international sales.

Look, I can understand, I suppose, what some people mean. Perhaps some people went in with the expectation of it being like an X-Men film, and Superman is a tougher character than that. Especially bringing him back. It really goes back to the fact that you can only please some of the people some of the time. But, yes, I'm just getting back with writers after the strike. We're just in the development phase. I'm starting to develop a sequel…with the intention of directing it."
