ϊσως να είναι ευρέως γνωστό και εγώ να το αγνοώ..όπως και να έχει βρήκα αυτό μια που ενθουσιάστικα..είπα να το postαρο

Ok, I know I was confused on how to get WDTV up and running using an NFS share on windows.
I want to create a step-by-step guide on how to do this. I know all the information is already available in this thread, but thought I should consolidate it into one post.

ok...

What you need:

* USB Key formatted FAT or FAT32. The windows utility formats it fine
* WDTV device (obviously)
* A USB->Ethernet Adapter. For a list of compatible ones go here http://root.unknown.sk/wdtv/wiki/dok...ed_usb_devices I am using the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter which I bought from the Apple Store. Was easiest and quickest one for me to get.


We will start off with the hardest first... Setting up an NFS Share.
Step 1:
Download Windows Services for Unix version 3.5 available at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

and then run it and extract it to a temporary location.
Step 2
Follow this guide for installation. READ NOTES below
NOTE: When selecting which components to install, make sure you select NFS server as well as client, and also make sure to select "Server for NFS Autthentication"
When you come to the part to add a passwd file and a group file. Use the attached files at the end of this post (remove the .txt extension)
Only follow this guide for installation.

Step 3
Configure NFS server. Go to start menu, and run the "Services for UNIX Administration" application from the Windows Services for UNIX folder

Follow this guide for configuring NFS
Farscape walks you through the rest of configuring.
NOTES: To see the NFS share tab, right click on folder you wish to share, and go to sharing. You should see a NFS Share tab.
If you are missing the NFS Share tab, try restarting your computer. I had to for it to show.
Right click on start menu, and go to explore.
Expand My Network Places
Expand Entire Network (you may need to refresh if you don't see it. Hit F5 to do so)
Expand NFS Network
Expand Default Lan
You should now see your computer.. Expand it, and you should see your shared folders. Open it to see if you see your files.
If the folder is empty, and you cannot see any files you need to add a password to your account. (Go to control panel, User Accounts, Click on your account, change password). ALso, I am not sure, but an administrator account may be required.
I know this sucks if you do not wish to have a password, but I don't know any other way around it.

You should now be able to see all your NFS shares.. If you can't then I am not sure what went wrong. Make sure you followed both guides closely.
Also if you have a firewall running then you have to open ports

and finally this is optional i guess. Did it for xp home but not for xp pro

You must add the Mapsvc.exe program to the Windows Firewall exception list. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type firewall.cpl, and then click OK.
2. Click the Exceptions tab, and then click Add Program.
3. Click Browse, locate and then click Mapsvc.exe, and then click Open.

Note By default, this file is located in the C:\SFU\Mapper folder.

Now we are going to install the firmware onto the USB key.

Step 4:
Download Zorander ext-boot from

I am currently using version 0.8.6

Step 5:
Unzip the download to a USB Key that is formatted FAT or FAT32. .

Step 6:
Modify the net.config file..
I do not use DHCP, but it should be fine.
This it my net.config file

HOST=wdtv
DHCP=no
IP=192.168.1.155
GW=192.168.1.1
NM=255.255.255.0
DNS1=192.168.1.1
I have the file attached, rename extension to .config

Step 7:
Modify the net.mounts folder.
Syntax is
Code:

xmount 192.168.0.44:/share ShareName nfs

"share" is what your NFS share name is in windows.
"ShareName" is what you want it to appear on your WDTV device.
You can add as many as you like.

Step 8:
Set up your WDTV device. Make sure it is all hooked up to your TV, and that your Ethernet adapter is plugged into a USB slot, and that you have an ethernet cord running to the adapter.

Step 9:
Insert the USB key into the other spare USB slot.
Start the WDTV device, once it is loaded, you should see it saying something about found new firmware. Click the OK button on your remote, to install the firmware. It may take 5 minutes or so for it to complete.
Note: You are going to have to leave the USB key plugged in at all times, even after you install the firmware. If you need more USB slots because you also want to add a harddrive, you will need to use a USB hub. I tested it, and everything works fine with a USB hub.

Go to videos, go to folder view, and you should see your share. Try clicking on it and if you see your movies everything has been setup correctly!
If you cant see it, then not sure what went wrong. I followed these exact steps on a fresh isntall of XP and I am able to access my NFS share.

Step 10: (Optional)
If you want to play around with the box, then you can telnet into it.
go to start->run.
Type in "telnet 192.168.1.155" (or whatever the IP of the WD device is)
You now have access to the linux.. Only do this if you know linux.
Username is root no password.

You can also FTP into the box by using an FTP application. Use the ip and username root no password


Hopefully this will clear everything up.
I know if I had a guide like this it would have only taken me an hour or two to set it up rather than 5 or 6 hours.

Να προσθέσω οτι η μέθοδος που περιγράφει είναι με το ext-3-boot firmaware version με το οποίο δεν φλασάρεις το WD και μπορείς να κάνεις και rolback.
Αν ισχύουν τα παραπάνω...τότε μόλις αγοράσατε ενα popcorn με 130€ (30€ για το USB-to Ethernet του Wii)


Ελπίζω κάποιος να το δοκιμάσει να μας πεί τι παίζει...μπας αποφασίσω και εγώ τι να πάρω :203:

Καλημέρα έχω ένα πρόβλημα μόλις πήρα τον player. Συνδέω τo καλώδιο rca με εναν scart adapter http://www.e-shop.gr/show_per.phtml?id=PER.751702 το βάζω output τον διακόπτη, σε 2 διαφορετικές philips 14'' αλλά η tv δεν δείχνει τίποτα. Το δοκίμασα και σε μία sony που είχε υποδοχή για rca επιτυχώς χωρίς πρόβλημα, ξέρει κανείς τι μπορεί να φταίει? Μήπως κάνω κάτι λάθος στην συνδεσμολογία?

η ταινια παιζει αλλα για να ακουσεις ηχο θες ενισχυτη που να διαβαζει dts, το μηχανακι δεν κανει απο μονο του αποκωδικοποιηση σε αυτο το φορμα, μονο ντολμπυ ντιτζιταλ

ΚΑΛΗΣΠΕΡΑ σε ολους κ απο εμενα!
εχω ενα μικρο- τεραστιο προβληματακι με το μηχανακι μου(WD TV)...
το εχω εδω κ τρεις μηνες αλλα λογω αμελειας δεν το ειχα συνδεσει με την τηλεοραση περα απο το να του κανω το update...τo 1o!!! τοτε επαιζε κανονικα...
ΤΩΡΑ το συνδεω με tv ( sony 40") μου βγαζει την πρωτη εικονα με το σηματακι της WD κ μετα μαυρο σκοταδι... τιποτα.....????
πανω του εχω ενα δισκο WD ESSENTIAL 750GB και συνδεεται σε tv
με HDMI ... Tι μπορει να συμβαινει?
ΕΥΧΑΡΙΣΤΩ κ εκτιμω ολους... αναμενω βοηθεια!!!!

Το μηχανακι το δοκιμασα και σε τηλεοραση CRT με εισοδο βιντεο μεσω rca (κιτρινη συνηθως υποδοχη) και παιζει μια χαρα. Με σκαρτ ανταπτορα δεν το δοκιμασα θα το κανω αυριο (κανει...διακοπες το WD!). Με εισοδο HDMI σε Philips τιβι επαιξε αμεσως - αρα δεν εχει προβλημα το "μικρο", πιθανον το καλωδιο (το δοκιμασες με αλλη συσκευη. Ηχο DTS δεν παιζει ως γνωστον (μαλλον παω για φθηνο ενισχυτη 5.1)

Κανενας τολμηρος για το προγραμμα που αναφερει o Krumar;

1) Τα καλώδια τα έχεις συνδέσει σωστά; Δλδ Video -> Video, Audio -> Audio?

2) Στην τηλεόραση έχεις επιλέξει είσοδο AV; Μην περιμένεις να αλλάξει μόνη της.

3) Δοκίμασες και το input και το output;

Αν απαντάς με ναι και στα τρία ερωτήματα και δεν έχεις εικόνα και ήχο, ή το ανταπτοράκι σου ή το καλώδιο είναι χαλασμένα...

Να ρωτησω και εγω κατι.Εχω το μηχανακι 3 μηνες και μου εβλεπε του srt υποτιτλους.Σε εργα mkv που κατεβασα τελευταια τους υποτιτλους srt δεν τους βλεπει.Και το km player που χρησιμοποιουσα για τις ταινιες με srt δεν του βλεπει.Τι μπορει να συμβαινει?
Με το vlc player οι υποτιτλοι ειναι ΟΚ.

Μια ερώτηση για τους υπότιτλους παιδιά.
Δεν υπάρχει επιλογή να μετακινείται η θέση τους στην οθόνη?
Ή να ρυθμίζεται χρονικά η εμφάνιση τους με +/-?

Αυτά υπάρχουν από την αρχή στα NMT και είναι πολύ βολικά αν οι υπότιτλοι δεν κάθονται ακριβώς ή χάνεται ο συγχρονισμός αργότερα.

Είναι θέμα δικαιωμάτων τα οποία ειδικά για το dts είναι ακριβά...

Τώρα αν στο μέλλον (σε συνάρτηση με τις πωλήσεις...) δουν ότι "βγαίνουν" θα το προσθέσουν...

Πάω και στοίχημα οτι σε λίγο καιρό η WD θα βγάλει και το "μεγαλύτερο" μοντέλο της. Θα κοτσάρει σε αυτό μια εθερνετ και το DTS και θα το δίνει κανά 160άρι ευρουλάκια...

The Popcorn Hour may be of interest, as it has a feature for downmixing DTS, and reportedly Popcorn Hour Linux modules were imported succesfully in the WD TV HD system.

Another hint of DTS downmixing being possible is in the firmware microcode that is used for the audio processing on the Sigma DSP:

/lib/firmware/xrpc_xload_audio_ucode_SMP8634_2.8.3.0_facsprod.mips.nodts.bin

So it looks like DTS was specifically disabled. Maybe it’s possible to just swap the audio_ucode with one that supports DTS (downmixing), like the Popcorn Hour. Altough this might be blocked by some encryption scheme. I don’t have the technical knowledge to answer this question. But I know that ISTAR doesn’t have DTS decoding neither but some of the users used the Popcornhour firmware and they can now successfully decode DTS. Since WD uses the same Sigma chip, I’m guessing there’s a chance. Still, we need confirmation from a person who has technical knowledge.

Αν κατάλαβα καλά ο τύπος λέει ότι υπάρχει μια περίπτωση επειδή και το popcornhour A-110 έχει το ίδιο (SMP8635LF chip from Sigma Designs) με το wd hd tv να πάρουνε κάποια στοιχεία από το firmware του popcorn a-110 μιας και έχει dts support και να τα βάλουνε σε ένα τροποποιημένο firmware για το wd hd tv.
Μακάρι...

Δηλαδή εσύ πιστεύεις ότι υπάρχει περίπτωση να βγει επίσημο ή όχι firmware update ώστε να υποστηρίζει και dts downmix?

Αν ναι μπορείς να μας πεις κανένα λίνκ γι' αυτό το ανεπίσημο firmware update.
Μακάρι να βγει κάποιο ανεπίσημο ή επίσημο firmware update που θα υποστηρίζει εξωτερικά dvd-roms και dts downmix.

Τότε θα είναι ένα σχεδόν τέλειο μηχάνημα που θα παίζει τα πάντα.

Λοιπόν μετά από πάνω από 7 χρόνια με htpc δοκιμάζω το συγκεκριμένο μηχανάκι εδώ και 3 ώρες ακατάπαυστα...

Μπορώ να πω ότι μου έπαιξε ακόμα και τα πιο δύσκολα αρχεία...

Ακόμα σε κάποια παλιά hd αρχεία που το pc μου έχανε τον συγχρονισμό αυτό τα παίζει μία χαρά!!!

Για την ώρα όλα καλά! Για τα λεφτά του... τέλειο!!!
