Since revealing new photos from the film this morning wasn't enough, Empire has now unveiled their Thor: The Dark World covers for their upcoming "Brothers in Arms" issue.
Tom Hiddleston on Loki in Thor: The Dark World and beyond
MTV talked to Tom Hiddleston about reprising the role of Loki in Marvel Studios' anticipated November 8 sequel, Thor: The Dark World.
"It's a roller coaster, no question," Hiddleston said. "It's full of ups and downs and loop-de-loops and twists and turns. It will take you to places you haven't seen before."
Loki will have to team up with his brother to take on Malekith the Accursed, leader of the Dark Elves. "They have an ancient, ancient grudge against Asgard and against the reign of Odin, and they're back."
But Loki will remain a thorn in Thor's side. "Loki has a very complicated relationship with Thor," Hiddleston added. "He is an agent of chaos without equal in the world he inhabits. He knows his true nature. He knows he doesn't belong in the family of Asgard, and he's locked away in the beginning of the film in the deepest, darkest recesses of the dungeon as public enemy number one."
He was also asked if we'll see Loki again after Thor: The Dark World now that Joss Whedon has said he won't appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
"I do feel like there's some unfinished business between Loki and the Hulk," he said. "I feel like he didn't get a fair fight. Who knows, you'll have to see what happens in 'The Dark World' to find out where Loki finishes up."
Tom Hiddleston talks Thor: The Dark World reshoots
It was announced a few weeks ago that Marvel Studios went back for a handful of reshoots for the upcoming Thor: The Dark World and that these scenes were being shot to add more of Tom Hiddleston as Loki to the film. Speaking with The Huffington Post, Hiddleston was excited about the additonal shooting and says the scenes came from an idea he had himself, though he doesn't outright reveal the nature of the scenes.
"We were adding new stuff. So that was fun for me. And some of the things were scenes I'd actually pitched for a long time ago....The thing about Kevin Feige is he's very, very open and collaborative. And he and Louis D'Esposito, who run the studio -- I find it very admirable that they're open to ideas...Chris Hemsworth and myself have lived inside these characters for two movies now and we've been inside every scene and we know what works and we know what doesn't works. And also, we know what we've done and what we shouldn't try to repeat. Because that was the great sort of fire underneath myself was not wanting to take anything for granted or just put the old recipe in the microwave, you know? And try and find new things for the characters to do -- new iterations of the relationship between Thor and Loki. And Kevin was really open to that. I remember as we were conceiving of the shape of the film, Kevin and [director] Alan Taylor were really open to it, especially because they always talk about the connective aspect of the Marvel universal."
Alan Taylor on what makes Thor: The Dark World different
Though 2011's Thor introduced many filmgoers to the God of Thunder, it was just the tip of the iceberg as far as the comic character's mythology goes. Marvel will dive head first into it all with the upcoming sequel this November, Thor: The Dark World, and director Alan Taylor is happy Marvel decided to make such a different film for the sequel.
I love doing period stuff, and I was immersed in Game Of Thrones, the director told SFX. I was lucky that Marvel seemed to have an appetite for that this time. Theyd consciously steered away from that kind of thing in the first one. Because they wanted to make sure they were distinguishing themselves from Lord Of The Rings. They didnt want to be mistaken for that. But by the time I came along it seemed like they were ready to embrace a slightly more historical attitude towards it.
One way the sequel will differ from the first? Thor will be riding a horse in the film.
In my mind this is an ancient, ancient culture that highly reveres the horse and the culture of the horse. We still use fountain pens because we think theyre really cool its not like we all use laser pens. So I think theres a living culture that keeps these things. To me the defining thing was that Thor is a superhero amongst many superheroes, but the thing that makes him different is the thing that should be featured in the movie. And that is that hes also a warrior prince from ancient culture.
Marvel's Thor 3 moving forward with Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost scripting
On the heels of yesterday's news about Captain America: The Winter Soldier helmers Anthony and Joe Russo signing on for Captain America 3 comes word on another Marvel Studios sequel. Marvel announced today that Senior Vice President of Production and Development Craig Kyle will script Thor 3 alongside the returning Christopher Yost (who, with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely scripted Thor: The Dark World from a story by Don Payne and Robert Rodat).
"I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years," President of Production Kevin Feige said in a prepared statement. "His creative instincts have helped shape 'Thor' and 'Thor: The Dark World' at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thors adventure."
