Bryan Singer teases X-Men: Days of Future Past plot point

X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer has been teasing moments from the film's set since before production began, and the pieces are starting to come together. Two weeks ago saw the release of a photo teasing a "pivotal meeting" inside The White House. The next day saw another photo teasing Vietnam War protestors outside of a French Embassy, and today's image brings both of those together.

The director has revealed a photo from what appears to be the setting of a speech from President Nixon. The speech begins with: "Today we face the gravest threat in our history. What the world witnessed in Paris was not an isolated incident..."

What likely happens at the embassy is an attack from a group of mutants, potentially Magneto and his brotherhood, and we're willing to bet that this speech ends with Nixon announcing the creation of The Sentinels from Trask Industries. What are your theories on what it all means?

Characters and story details revealed for X-Men: Days of Future Past

Since the casting, and subsequent secrecy, of Peter Dinklage and Josh Helman in X-Men: Days of Future Past, fans have been speculating about their roles for some time and the secret might be out. According to Vulture, Dinklage will be playing creator of the Sentinels Bolivar Trask, as many predicted, and Helman will be playing a young version of William Stryker, played by Brian Cox in X2: X-Men United.

That's not all though, Vulture has also uncovered some plot details about the film. Here's what they said: "Ellen Page returns as Kitty from the Brett Ratner –directed X-Men: The Last Stand, but this time she uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman's Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty's powers and bring their friend back to the future."

Bryan Singer talks time frame in X-Men: Days of Future Past

We know that the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past will combine both the cast of the original X-Men films and 2011's X-Men: First Class, but where does it take place in relation to those films? Speaking with Empire Magazine, director Bryan Singer revealed the placement of the film on the franchise's timeline.

"It takes place about ten years, give or take, after X-Men 3; and in the past it takes place about ten years after First Class".” Singer also coined a new word for what to call the film, "“I’d say it’s not a sequel to one of the others. It’s an inbetwequel — that’s what I call it, for lack of a better word."

Previous reports on the film have revealed it to take place in a few other locations beyond simply America, but Singer says that's just the first layer and the film goes even more places.

“It takes place in the future and the past and then all over the world, from Russia to China, then France, and Washington, New York,” he says. “It’s got scope, but most of the scope is in the breadth of the story

Speaking about the "1970s" portion of the film, Singer revealed where we will find Charles Xavier and Magneto at the start of the film: “Charles is in a very dark hole when we meet him, and Erik has been gathering his power

Mystique featured in new X-Men: Days of Future Past production image?

X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer has been tweeting images from the set of the film since before production began, which have been more or less straighforward. Some have teased potential plot points, others have revealed stunts in the film, and some have confirmed returning cast members. We're at a loss for words with this latest image though. Check it out below and tell us what you think it is. Is it Mystique holding a man up against a wall by her leg?

Bryan Singer reveals full size sentinel on the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past

Bryan Singer reveals new details about X-Men: Days of Future Past

The Fantasia International Film Festival held their special event "An Evening with Bryan Singer" last night where the director showed the Comic-Con footage from and spoke about the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. In his discussion (via JoBlo), he revealed some new details about the film and confirmed others.

Singer first revealed that the Scarlet Witch will not be present in the film, seemingly making Quicksilver, played by Evan Peters, an only child. He also confirmed earlier reports that Josh Helman is playing a younger William Stryker.

The most interesting thing about Singer's discussion was in his pseudo-reveal regarding Charles Xavier's return. Having said he was disappointed he couldn't bring Cyclops back for the film, he revealed that he could justify the return of Xavier because "he transferred his consciousness and could possibly construct a body around that consciousness." Xavier's return was teased at the end of X-Men: The Last Stand and now makes a little bit more sense after Singer laid out those details.

Bryan Singer reveals an innovative approach to shooting Quicksilver

Bryan Singer is back on Twitter today with another look behind-the-scenes of his X-Men: Days of Future Past with a photo that should excite cinematography fans.

"Brightest set I've ever filmed on," Singer tweets, following with the hashtags, "#3600framespersecond #Quicksilver"

It appears that, to capture Evan Peters' turn as the fast-moving son of Magneto, Singer is capturing footage in extreme slow motion. The end result of 3600 frames per second will appear 150 times slower than standard film and, as such, requires significantly more lighting to expose each frame. Although it's hard to see exactly what he's filming, you can check the basic setup in Singer's image below.

Bryan Singer teasing an X-Men Museum in X-Men: Days Of Future Past?

Bryan Singer's tweets regarding X-Men: Days of Future Past have ranged from casting confirmations to behind-the-scenes looks at filmmaking techniques, but this latest one is just downright vague. Captioned simply, "Artifacts," Singer released the below image, which appears to have Havok's costume and Magneto's helmet among other items in a display case. This, of course, raises the questions, "who is storing these things?" and "how did they get them?"

Update: Singer returned to Twitter just now to post a second new image, this one featuring Fassbender's Magneto.

"Loving my monitors today," Singer adds, also revealing that principal photography on the film is set to finish tomorrow.

Jennifer Lawrence talks Mystique's arc in X-Men: Days of Future Past

At the end of 2011's X-Men: First Class, Charles Xavier felt betrayed as his dear friend Mystique had taken off with Magneto and his brotherhood. Jennifer Lawrence will reprise her role as the blue shapeshifter in the film's sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and recently spoke about where her character finds herself in the film.

"I'm naked, but when I do get to wear clothes, I love the '70s outfits. Some of the Mystique look is a little different, but we’re still using the same paint. But she’s different in this film too," she told SciFiNow. "She was struggling – like a lot of normal humans – with the way she looked, and she was covered up a lot in the first movie, but this time she is Mutant and proud."
