λοιπον σε οσους αρεσει ο συνδιασμος βιολιου και ροκ, εδω θα βρειτε ενα πανεμορφο δισκο. ο Michal Jelonek, πολωνος βιολιστης, βγαζει ενα προσωπικο αλμπουμ με συνοδεια ροκ μπαντας οπου οι κλασικοτροπες βιολιστικες μελωδιες συναντουν το progressive rock/metal. Ισως θυμησει λιγο Apocalyptica μεσαιας περιοδου αφου εδω δεν υπαρχουν ουτε φωνητικα, ουτε "χιτακια".

Lhasa - Lhasa 2009

Lhasa de Sela (September 27, 1972 – January 1, 2010), also known by the mononym Lhasa, was an American-born singer-songwriter who was raised in Mexico and the United States and divided her adult life between Canada and France.

[RELIOPS="Biography"]Lhasa was born in Big Indian, New York, to Mexican-American Spanish instructor Dr. Alejandro (Alex) Sela Obarrio, a one-time Hog Farm member with a doctorate in literature, and a Jewish-American mother, photographer and actress Alexandra Karam. Both of Lhasa's grandmothers were in the performing arts: the Panamanian-Mexican pianist, Carmen de Obarrio, a pupil of Edgar Varese, and American stage and screen actress Elena Karam, who appeared regularly on Broadway and starred in Elia Kazan's America, America.

After spending the first decade of her life spent criss-crossing the United States and Mexico in a converted school bus with her parents and siblings, who were home-schooled by their mother, Lhasa moved to San Francisco at 11 and started singing in a Greek cafe just two years later, at 13. At 19, she followed her older sisters and eventual Cirque Pocheros founders Ayin, Sky, and Miriam, who had left the Pickle Family Circus to study at the École nationale de cirque, to Montreal. There, she sang for five years in bars and other venues, developing the material that eventually became her first album, La Llorona, released in 1997. La Llorona, which mixes traditional Latin American songs with original songs, was strongly influenced by Mexican music, but also Klezmer music, Eastern European gypsy music, Middle-Eastern music and alternative rock. The album was released by the Canadian independent record label, Audiogram, in Montreal, and brought her much success, including the Quebec Félix Award in Canada for "Artiste québécois — musique du monde" in 1997 and a Canadian Juno Award for Best Global Artist, in 1998.

After touring in Europe and North America for several years, including Lilith Fair in 1997 and 1998, Lhasa left her singing career in 1999 and moved to France to join her sisters in Pocheros, a circus/theatre company. She eventually reached Marseille, where she started writing songs again. She then returned to Montreal to produce her second album, The Living Road, which was released in 2003. While La Llorona had been entirely in Spanish, The Living Road included songs in English, French and Spanish. A two year tour followed the release of The Living Road, taking her and her group to seventeen countries. She was a guest singer on the Tindersticks' track "Sometimes It Hurts" off their Waiting for the Moon album, and later joined Tindersticks' singer Stuart Staples for a duet on the track "That Leaving Feeling", found on his Leaving Songs album. She has also appeared as a guest on the albums of French singers Arthur H and Jérôme Minière, and the French gypsy music group Bratsch. Lhasa received the BBC World Music Award for Best Artist of the Americas in 2005. The accumulated worldwide sales of her two albums are nearing one million.[citation needed]

Her third and final album, Lhasa, was released in April 2009 in Montreal, at the Théatre Corona, and in Paris at the Théatre des Bouffes du Nord. She had next planned to release a tribute album to Chilean singers Violeta Parra and Victor Jara. However, following a 21 month battle with breast cancer, Lhasa died on the evening of January 1, 2010, at her home in Montreal.[/RELIOPS]

Εδω εχουμε εναν epic doom ογκολιθο που μαλλον εχει περασει εντελως απαρατηρητος ακομα και απο τους φαν του ειδους. Απο Ιταλια δε θα περιμενε κανεις κατι τοσο επιβλητικο και μεγαλοπρεπες στο χωρο του ντουμ, αλλα αυτοι εδω εκπλησουν.

Ακουγοντας το μου ερχεται στο μυαλο ενας συνδυασμος early Candlemass, early Solitude Aeternus και While Heaven Wept. Ισως να φερουν στο μυαλο και τους Scald (για τους ελαχιστους που τους ξερουν). Το ενα επος διαδεχεται το αλλο και περα απο τη στοιχειωμενη ατμοσφαιρα που δημιουργουν οι κιθαρες ξεχωριζουν και τα πεντακαθαρα και λυρικα φωνητικα.

Πιστευω ειναι must listen για οποιονδηποτε οπαδο του επικου doom.

Α! προσοχη στο τελευταιο κομματι μονο, ξεκιναει στο κλασικο τους υφος και μετα απο κανα διλεπτο γυριζε σε ηλεκτρονικη μπιτ μουσικη για κανα 5λεπτο. Περιεργο κλεισιμο σε ενα φοβερο δισκο.

εχω λειψει μερες απο δω, γιαυτο επανερχομαι με αυτη την εκπληκτικη Ισραηλινη πιανιστρια, οχι ευρεως γνωστη που δυστυχως μεγαλουργει στην σκια των γνωστων ιερων τερατων. Το αλμπουμ ειναι εκπληκτικο και συγκρινετε το με οποιοδηποτε θεωρειτε οτι ειναι το καλυτερο αλμπουμ πιανιστα.

With Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Paul Bley, Elvis Costello, John Coltrane and Egberto Gismonti among her many formative influences, Anat Fort’s music can also subtly hint at her geographical origins. Born near Tel Aviv, she studied classical piano as a child and began improvising from an early age, all the while remaining open to the many musical sounds of her environment.

In the early 1990’s, Anat came to the United States to study jazz, looking to balance a natural tendency towards freer playing with a firm grounding in the tradition. Her sojourn resulted in her self-produced debut album Peel, and commissions to write for various ensembles including chamber and chorus and orchestra. Her most recent commission was premiered at the Opera House in Tel Aviv in January 2006.

Anat received two artist-in-residence grants from the Jerome Foundation as well as the Creative Connections award from Meet the Composer. A session recorded with drummer Paul Motian, bassist Ed Schuller, and clarinetist Perry Robinson was brought to the attention of the legendary producer Manfred Eicher ECM Records, and the resultant CD was released in 2007 as A Long Story.

An important presence on the NYC alternative jazz scene and equally highly regarded in her homeland, Anat currently splits her time between Israel and the US and performs with bassist Gary Wang and drummer Roland Schneider in her touring band, the Anat Fort Trio.[/RELIOPS]
