MGM Home Entertainment in conjunction with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced the technical specs for the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'The Hannibal Lecter Collection', which is scheduled to hit store shelves on September 15th, day-and-date with the DVD re-release. For this three-disc set - which features Blu-ray releases of 'Manhunter', 'The Silence of the Lambs', and 'Hannibal' - video will be presented in 1080p accompanied by a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal Officially Announced

Sony Pictures Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have officially announced that they will bring Jim Henson's 'Labyrinth' and 'The Dark Crystal' to Blu-ray on September 29th. The films represent two theatrical releases by the Muppet-master that diverged from his usual cast of characters. Both films will be presented in 1080p AVC accompanied by 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtracks.

Director Peter Jackson revealed in media interviews for District 9 at the Comic Con that he expects the Extended Cuts of The Lord of the Rings films to arrive on Blu-ray "about a year" after the Theatrical Versions which street on 3/11/2009 from Warner.

In other news, there were lots of rumors floating around the Con floor (as there are every year) that Lucasfilm would use their big panel on Friday (broadcast on G4's Attack of the Show) to finally announce Blu-ray releases of the Star Wars films. Yeah, right.

We knew, of course, that was just a lot of B.S., and suspected that all Lucasfilm would do would be to promote the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season One... and that's exactly what happened.

On a positive note, the set (due on both formats on 11/3 from Warner) looks like it's going to be pretty cool. More on what the set will include can be found here at Star Wars.com.

απο τον περασμενο απριλιο το ειχα γραψει οτι θα κυκλοφορησουν τον δεκεμβριο του 2009 οι κινηματογραφικες εκδοσεις της τριλογιας.

Μαλιστα στην τελευταια comic con o peter jackson ανεφερε οτι οι directors cut εκδοσεις σε bluray θα κυκλοφορησουν 1 χρονο μετα ( δηλαδη δεκεμβριο 2010.

Brrian Young of Examiner.com interviewed Lucasfilm's Steve Sansweet down at Comic-Con, and he asked about the possibility of the long-awaited "ultimate" Star Wars Saga box set coming to DVD and Blu-ray.

Steve says it's definitely coming, and work is already underway on the content.
