Bloody-Disgusting are reporting that Ruairi Robinson, who is currently attached to direct the AKIRA remake for WB, is also developing a fantastic sounding alien apocalypse flick called The Farm.

According to BD, the script written by Matthew Arnold "tells the story of a man that awakens to find that his entire community except for five others has disappeared. Together, they go on a desperate search for their loved ones and to discover the truth behind the disappearance, only to find that they are the ones that actually disappeared and that aliens have been farming humans to prevent their extinction and this group is the latest test samples."

Blade Runner Getting a Prequel Web Series Sometime Soon

Τhe New York Times, they have an article announcing that a new division of Ridley Scott's commercials company, RSA Films, has started development on a video series called Purefold. The series of linked 5- to 10-minute shorts will first debut on the web and will be set at a point in time before 2019, which is when Blade Runner takes place. Unfortunately, since The Halycon Company owns the rights to Philip K. Dick's entire estate, this video series will only be "inspired" by Blade Runner and its themes.

Chris Pine is Unstoppable

The Hollywood Reporter says that Star Trek star Chris Pine is in talks to join Denzel Washington in director Tony Scott's action-thriller Unstoppable at 20th Century Fox.

The story centers on an experienced train engineer (Washington) about to be laid off as part of company cutbacks and the newbie (Pine) conductor hired to replace him. They find themselves in a race against time to stop an unmanned, half-mile-long freight train carrying enough combustible liquids and poisonous gas to wipe out a nearby city.

Mark Bomback wrote the script.

James Cameron Might Be Directing a Heavy Metal Segment?!

Whoa, now this is some awesome news! We've heard about that Heavy Metal movie that David Fincher is spearheading, but it keeps getting stuck in development hell. Well, our friends at Film School Rejects recently caught up with TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman and asked him if he had any updates. "I've got breaking news that Fincher and James Cameron are going to be co-executive producers on the film.

Fincher will direct one. Cameron will direct one. Zack Snyder is going to direct one and Gore Verbinski is going to. Mark Osborne and Jack Black from Tenacious D are going to do a comedy segment for the film."

I wouldn't say this is completely confirmed news, because we've heard off and on that various directors would be directing segments, even though nothing has come together. At one point they had Guillermo del Toro attached as well as Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda) and Tim Miller. But the list keeps changing all the time; I've heard that Gore Verbinski isn't even attached anymore, contrary to Eastman's update. Fincher's plan is to get a total of 9 directors to direct different segments of the movie, which is based on the cult magazine Heavy Metal. It's an ambitious plan and if he did Cameron involved, then I'm truly amazed.

"Three other directors have agreed but we haven’t signed them, but they’re equally as jaw-dropping. So we’re on cloud nine to be working with such an amazing amount of talent," Eastman said. Our last update on this came from Eastman as well back in May. I don't know why our only updates on this are coming from Eastman, but if we are to believe what he says, then this is very big news. Right now everyone is 100% focused on Cameron's Avatar, but I can definitely see him contributing to this, and his involvement may be what it needs to finally get made. We'll let you know when we hear more - which will hopefully be soon!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Will Be Longer in IMAX!

Haters beware." That's how Michael Bay signs off in the latest update on his official blog. Bay posted one last update before heading off to the premiere of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in Japan and mentioned a few interesting things. Not only does he confirm that there are a total of 42 different robots in this movie, but that it's just barely getting finish because of the attention to detail all of the animators are putting in. He also mentions that the IMAX version of the movie will be "slightly longer" with "more robot fighting." Now you know exactly where you'll have to see this in theaters starting on June 24th - in IMAX!

Rodriguez Says He's Hoping to Shoot The Jetsons Next Year !

Back in April, filmmaker Robert Rodriguez told Austin press that his line-up for the next few years would include Machete, then "a sci-fi action film called Nerveracker, a reboot of the Predator series called Predators, and a couple of smaller movies called Sin City 2 and The Jetsons." Apparently he wasn't joking about all that. We've heard confirmation on almost all of those, except for The Jetsons. Well, Rodriguez just told MTV today that he's hoping to start shooting "next year." And this is the live-action adaptation of the classic cartoon series we're talking about.

T2 IN 3D?

Director Jim Cameron acknowledged he's still in post-production on Avatar and has been since March 2008 even before live action photography ended. "I feel like I've been living in a cave for a year," he told the "Produced By" Conference today. He also enthusiastically endorsed the Avatar videogame which debuted at E3 last Monday.

"I'm not personally a gamer, but my younger brother Dave is a big gamer," Cameron noted, and together they made sure they liked it. He noted that "in some cases the videogame branded with film hasn't been as good as a film." He didn't name names, but he said the Avatar game will be "the same quality level" as the movie. Cameron also told the audience he is up-converting Terminator 2 to 3-D if it’s cost effective.
