Listen to the First Track From The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Score!
The first installment in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will open in theaters on December 14 and the soundtrack for the film will drop a few days earlier on December 11. We posted the track listing and cover art for you last week and now we've got a taste at one of the tracks, "Radagast the Brown," for you below.
The original soundtrack, composed, orchestrated, and conducted by Howard Shore will be available as a two CD set in both regular and Special Editions. It will also include an original song entitled "Song of the Lonely Mountain," written and performed by Neil Finn (Crowded House).

Διάβασα το track listing των δύο εκδόσεων του soundtrack αλλά δεν μπόρεσα να αναγνωρίσω το τραγούδι που ακούγονται να τραγουδάνε οι νάνοι στο trailer (Far over the misty mountains cold κτλ κτλ). Ξέρει κανείς αν συμπεριλαμβάνεται στο soundtrack;

To dungeons deep and caverns old,
We must away, ere break of day,
To seek our pale enchanted gold.
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells,
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.

There many a gleaming golden hoard

Listen to Neil Finn's 'Song of the Lonely Mountain' From The Hobbit
Good news everyone, you won't have to wait until the ending of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey to listen to Neil Finn's new song "Song of the Lonely Mountain." Rolling Stone has premiered the song on their website and you can listen to it by clicking here.
Finn says he was told by Jackson to get in a 'dwarven state of mind' for the song. "'The Song of the Lonely Mountain' was developed from a dark and mysterious theme which the dwarves sing early in the movie. After some days of mining underground (actually, in Peters office) I emerged with the song, then set about recording it with my sons Elroy and Liam. Dave Fridmann came in at the end with a bold mix. He seemed to respond well to my demands for 'more anvil!' Pop music needs more anvil!"
'Song of the Lonely Mountain' will be available on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey soundtrack, which will be released on December 11.

ΞΕΚΙΝΗΣΑΝΕ ΟΙ ΠΡΟ-ΠΩΛΗΣΕΙΣ ΤΟΥ THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY ΣΤΑ VILLAGE CINEMAS !!!
Παρακολουθούσα το site της Village εδώ και 1 εβδομάδα για να προλάβω τις προ-πωλήσεις του The Hobbit με το που ανοίξουν. Σήμερα το μεσημέρι που κοίταξα τελευταία φορά δεν είχαν ανοίξει ακόμα.
Εντελώς τυχαία είπα να κοιτάξω πριν κατά τις 23:00 έτσι για πλάκα μπας, και τι να δω...!!!
Ξεκίνησαν !!!
Ασυζητητί έφυγα σφαίρα από το σπίτι για το αγαπημένο μου σινεμά (Village Φαλήρου) για να προλάβω την αγαπημένη μου αίθουσα (Vmax αίθουσα 7) και τις αγαπημένες μου θέσεις (δεν σας τις λέω... :116
, για την πρεμιέρα (13/12/2012), της ταινίας που περιμένουμε όλοι εμείς οι fan της "Μέσης Γης" και του Tolkien (The Hobbit).
Και το κατάφερα !

Τα ζύγισα και αποφάσισα μέγεθος vs. fps., αλλά ευτυχώς μου είπαν πως η αναβάθμιση που έγινε στην αίθουσα 6 στα μηχανήματα τους για να παίξουν τα 48fps. μπορεί να γίνει και στην αίθουσα 7. Οπότε ίσως και να είμαστε τυχεροί όσοι αγαπάμε την συγκεκριμένη αίθουσα. Ίδωμεν για το συγκεκριμένο θέμα.

δλδ λογικα το 48αρι θα εχει πολυ καλη κινηση με λιγοτερο stutering..θα εχει ομως αισθηση σαν frame interpolation???Καλη φαση μαλον εκει θα παω να το δω.

Πάντως για τα 48fps δεν έχουν αρχίσει οι προπωλήσεις ακόμα. Το είπανε και στο facebook του village.

QUESTION: Why did you shoot The Hobbit Trilogy using the High Frame Rate (HFR) format?
PETER JACKSON: We live in a rapidly advancing digital age. Technology is being continually developed that can enhance and enrich the cinema-going experience. High Frame Rate shooting for a mainstream feature film has only become viable in the last year or two, and yet we live in an age of increasing home entertainment. I started shooting The Hobbit films in HFR because I wanted film audiences to experience just how remarkably immersive the theatrical cinema experience can be.
QUESTION: What is the history of frame rates and why do you think the time has come to increase them in the theater?
PETER JACKSON: Silent movies were shot at somewhere between 16 and 18 frames per second (fps) with hand-cranked cameras. In 1927, when sound came along, the industry needed to agree on a motor-driven, constant camera speed. 35mm film stock is very expensive, so it needs to be as slow as possible. The reduced motion blur on each frame increases sharpness and gives the movie the look of having been shot in 65mm or IMAX. One of the biggest advantages is the fact that your eye is seeing twice the number of images each second, giving the movie a wonderful immersive quality. It makes the 3D experience much more gentle and hugely reduces eyestrain. Much of what makes 3D viewing uncomfortable for some people is the fact that each eye is processing a lot of strobing, blur and flicker. This all but disappears in HFR 3D.
QUESTION: Having shot the film using HFR technology, what are your thoughts on the experience?
PETER JACKSON: I think HFR is terrific. As a filmmaker, I try to make my movies immersive. I want to draw the audience out of their seats, and pull them into the adventure. That is the experience I hope to offer moviegoers no matter which format they choose at the theater. While I personally prefer watching The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in HFR 3D, I can assure you that every format will provide you with an incredible and immersive experience.
HFR 3D is “different” — it won’t feel like the movies you’re used to seeing, in much the same way as the first CDs didn’t sound like vinyl records. We live in an age when cinemas are competing with iPads and home entertainment systems. I think it’s critical that filmmakers employ current technology to increase the immersive, spectacular experience that cinema should provide. It’s an exciting time to be going to the movies.

QUESTION: Why did you shoot The Hobbit Trilogy using the High Frame Rate (HFR) format?
PETER JACKSON: We live in a rapidly advancing digital age. Technology is being continually developed that can enhance and enrich the cinema-going experience. High Frame Rate shooting for a mainstream feature film has only become viable in the last year or two, and yet we live in an age of increasing home entertainment. I started shooting The Hobbit films in HFR because I wanted film audiences to experience just how remarkably immersive the theatrical cinema experience can be.
QUESTION: What is the history of frame rates and why do you think the time has come to increase them in the theater?
PETER JACKSON: Silent movies were shot at somewhere between 16 and 18 frames per second (fps) with hand-cranked cameras. In 1927, when sound came along, the industry needed to agree on a motor-driven, constant camera speed. 35mm film stock is very expensive, so it needs to be as slow as possible.
